MeNew HWP
HWP file viewer, online
Read Hancom Hangul (.hwp, .hwpx) documents in your browser — useful on a Mac or Linux machine with no Hancom Office installed.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server.
About this tool
HWP is the standard word processor format of South Korean government offices, schools and universities, which makes it a recurring problem for anyone outside Windows: the file arrives, and there is nothing installed that opens it. MeNew HWP reads both the older binary .hwp format and the newer XML-based .hwpx directly in your browser.
It extracts the body text and table contents into a clean reading view. From there you can copy the whole document to your clipboard, save it as a plain .txt file, or use your browser's print dialog to turn it into a PDF.
This is a reader, not an editor, and it is honest about that. Fonts, page layout, embedded images and precise formatting are not reproduced — you get the words, not the design. Password-protected and distribution-locked (DRM) documents cannot be opened at all.
Everything runs locally. The file you open is read by your browser and never uploaded to a server.
