Banggok-dong is the newest part of Wonju — new buildings, chain outlets. Tucked inside the ground floor of H Tower is a place serving barley rice the old way.
Barley rice was what people ate when rice was short; the shop is named after that period. Today it arrives as a set with stews, pancakes and a spread of vegetable sides.
